‘The South Kern and Old River Mutual Water Companies (MWCs) were selected to receive state grant-funded managerial support from a State appointed Administrator as the systems transition to safe drinking water. The South Kern water system has surpassed the maximum contaminant levels (MCLs) for uranium and 1, 2, 3-trichloropropane (TCP). The Old River water system has surpassed MCL for uranium and 1,2,3-TCP. Because the water systems do not have the financial or managerial resources to bring the water systems back into compliance, Provost & Pritchard will serve as an Administrator to help provide solutions for safer and affordable drinking water. Although two separate water systems, Provost & Pritchard will jointly manage the South Kern and Old River MWCs due to their close proximity.
